Indiana is home to the world's oldest woman!

April 20, 2008 was the birthday of Edna Parker. She was 115 years old today. She was born on April 20th in the year 1893, when Grover Cleveland was president. She is celebrating her 115th birthday as the oldest living Human being on Earth,

She has a grandson who is 59 years old. He says about his grandmother, "We don't know why she's lived so long. But she's never been a worrier and she's always been a thin person, so maybe that has something to do with it."

Shelbyville Mayor Scott Furgeson said Edna Parker's name will be featured throughout the town on signs that say "Home of Edna Parker, the world's oldest person"

The News said the party ended with the release of brown and blue balloons, one for each of Parker's record 115 years. Environmental activists complained that there needs to be a more environmentally friendly way of marking her old age. "We hope that no animal will ingest one of the balloons and be denied a similar chance at long life."

The world's tallest woman, Sandy Allen, lives in the same retirement center as Edna.
